PTA Blocks 69,000 SIM Cards Linked to Fake or Canceled ID Cards
PTA Takes Major Action by Blocking 69,000 SIMs Issued Against Canceled or Fake ID Cards
In a significant move against unlawful SIMs, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has blocked 69,000 SIM cards that were obtained using revoked or fraudulent ID cards. This action is in response to the biometric verification deadline of August 16.
According to the PTA, these SIM cards were circulated all around the nation and connected to phony or erroneous identity documents. Affected users must first obtain a new ID card from NADRA and then visit their mobile service provider or a franchise to complete the biometric verification process in order to regain access to their restricted SIMs.
Additionally, PTA has warned that within the next week, all SIM cards issued prior to 2017 using expired ID cards will be blocked. Users can avoid this by renewing their ID cards through NADRA and ensuring their SIMs are properly verified.
